5 reasons you should go to Are You Listening? Festival 2017
The Are You Listening? Festival is back this weekend for its 5th birthday and it is set to transform Reading with dozens of acts playing across the town in just one day.
Last year’s festival saw thousands of people pack into some of Reading’s top venues to hear amazing homegrown, underground and top UK music acts play. Not got your ticket yet? Here are five reasons you should head along to the Are You Listening? Festival this Saturday!
1. An amazing line-up
A festival is nothing without decent headliners and the Are You Listening? Festival is no exception with dozens of amazing acts to enjoy.
Stand-out performers include award-winning Scottish musician – Anna Meredith – who has performed at Glastonbury, Latitude and Field Day; Spring King who have been championed by Zane Lowe, Steve Lamacq and others; plus The Big Moon who return to Reading following supporting the Mystery Jets recent show.
2. Discover homegrown talent
Looking beyond the headliners, the Are You Listening? Festival line up includes some amazing acts who showcase why Reading has such an exciting music scene.
Local acts to keep an eye out for include Matt Maltese, Mellor, Saltwater Sun, Big Zero, Echoic, Borjad Luis, Adam & Elvis, Draw the Shades, Pete Hefferan, Sahara Dam and many more!
3. You get your money’s worth
With most festivals costing you an arm and a leg, the Are You Listening? Festival is offering attendees the chance to enjoy an absolutely massive line-up without breaking the bank.
Advance tickets are just £20 and give you access to all venues for the entire day. New for 2017 is a teen ticket which gives anyone aged 14 – 17 full access for just £13.50 – less than a dinner at Nando’s!
4. There’s more than just music
While the music takes the top billing at the Are You Listening? Festival, there is even more to get out of the day than the gigs.
Other highlights for the festival include Radio 1’s Huw Stephens speaking to The Amazons – one of the most promising bands to come out of Reading in recent years; there will be an art exhibition and auction of band posters showcased by Jelly at the Broad Street Mall; plus there will even be Are You Listening’s unique festiv-ale to enjoy on the day!
5. It is for a good cause
Not only does buying a ticket give you access to dozens of exciting bands and musicians, but you will be helping support the work of an amazing local charity.
Money raised from the Are You Listening? Festival goes towards Reading Mencap who provide support to adults and children with learning disabilities. So by enjoying some top live music you are helping given something back locally at the same time!
