Alt Reading Pick of the Reading Fringe 2015
This year’s Reading Fringe Festival was the biggest yet with dozens of acts performing across town in the space of just a few days. Choosing the stand-out show is no easy task but we are proud to reveal that Alt Reading’s pick of the Reading Fringe 2015 is…
The Me Show – Multi Story Theatre
Multi Story’s production was our unexpected favourite of this year’s Reading Fringe. We went in expecting a show about social media and selfies and discovered an ambitious production exploring political dissent, whistleblowers and ideology.
We were blown away not only by the subject matter but the willingness of the theatre-makers to challenge ideas and characters in a way other productions would not. The two actors, Bill Buffery and Gill Nathanson gave fantastic performances and The Me Show demonstrated a level of experimentation and bravery that made it Alt Reading’s Pick of the Fringe.
We’d also like to make special of two other productions we thought deserved highlighting:
The Mobile Phone Show
Berzerk Production’s show was chaotic and crazy but was a refreshing change from most other youth theatre. Special credit has to go to the ensemble cast who each gave fantastically energetic and fun performances.
Hey Hey 16K
Hey Hey 16K was clearly a work in progress but it was easy to tell that the finished production would be fantastic. A two-man rock opera that pokes fun as nostalgia, modern society and the feeling that things could have turned out differently.
