Opening Soon: RYND Bar & Kitchen

On Castle Steet, work is underway on the newest bar opening soon in Reading. Previously the site of Evissa and Dogma, RYND Bar & Kitchen couldn’t be more different. The former nightclub’s black walls and flooring has been stripped away to revealing intricate brickwork, rustic timber walls and giant arched windows bringing light and life back into the building.

Looking more like a New York Loft than a town centre nightclub: RYND Bar & Kitchen is aiming to be a more unique social setting. The main floor will act as a relaxed place for having drinks and food with friends while the first floor will be home to comedy nights, film screenings and other events.

RYND’s owners have managed to lure individuals from some of Reading’s best bars and clubs to help put together their menu. To drink there is craft beer, whiskey and a large selection of cocktails, including a seasonal cocktail menu. The food is inspired by the Deep South with sharing platters and plenty of meat including pulled pork, brisket, wings, homemade burgers and much more.

As mentioned, the building has been completely renovated and stripped back to its bare structure. The bar itself has a very industrial feel from its hand-rusted signage and metal bar counter, to its Edison bulbs and neon artwork. The simple design is also coupled with hi-tech features such as a built-in Secret DJ App, allowing anyone to pick what’s playing from their phone.

From its lo-fi decor to the hands-on menu, RYND Bar & Kitchen will clearly carve a niche out for itself in Reading: rather than being a place chasing after the student crowd, RYND will instead be a place for those who want somewhere to have a relaxing and enjoyable night out in town.

RYND Bar & Kitchen will be opening on the 18th September. It can be found on 11 Castle Street.
