Opening Soon: Thirsty Bear

Good news for pizza lovers in Reading as Thirsty Bear promises to bring a slice of New York to town later this month.

Opening on Friday 7th April on King’s Road, Thirsty Bear is a new bar and restaurant on the former site of The Wynford Arms that will serving up their own unique mix of pizzas and drinks.

Thirsty Bear’s signature dish is their ‘New York Style’ pizza that are made in-house, given a few days to rest and then served up slice by slice for a distinctive ‘sourdough’ taste. In addition to Thirsty Bear’s pizza dishes, they will also be serving up a variety of ice cream, pasta, chicken wings and other small dishes.

As a bar, Thirsty Bear has an array of popular drinks but will be specialising in bourbons – particularly Buffalo Trace Brewery – with drinks that have been sourced so that you will not be able to find them anywhere else in Reading.

The building has been completely refurbished from its previous life as The Wynford Arms with an overhauled look. Downstairs is an open plan bar and restaurant where people can order a pizza or simply go for a drink, upstairs has been re-styled as a bar and lounge with a new rooftop garden outside.

Nelson Davey, Manager of Thirsty Bear, said: “At the moment there is a big surge in bars and restaurants going for American diner-style food – we like to think we are offering something a bit different to other places in and around Reading at the moment.

“Our bourbon has been specially sourced and pizzas have been crafted to make sure we will be offering up high-quality and unique food and drink for everyone.”
