Philosopher AC Grayling to speak at the University of Reading
One of the UK’s leading humanist philosophers – AC Grayling – will be giving a talk and answering questions about campaigning to remain in the European Union at the University of Reading this Friday.
Taking place at the Palmer Building at the University of Reading from 7.30pm. Professor Grayling will be giving a half-hour talk called ‘Fighting for Europe’ before answering questions. He will also be joined by a guest speaker from the Unite for Europe, Keshi Chung.
Professor Grayling is Master of the New College of Humanities and is famous for writing about many contemporary issues including secularism, drug legalisation, human rights and euthanasia. More recently he has opposed Scottish Independence and Britain leaving the European Union.
The event is being organised by pro-EU campaign group, Berkshire for Europe. The Chair of the group – Marie French – said: “It is a huge coup for us to book such a prestigious speaker, and we’re all looking forward to a fascinating and inspirational talk.”
Tickets will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. Organisers are requesting donations at the door in place of ticket sales and are encouraging anyone to come along to the event regardless of where they stand on the debate over EU membership.
